The mission of M.A.P.S. is to provide current useful clinically based information to the plastic surgeons of the Midwest in a low cost, friendly environment. M.A.P.S. is a forum open to all the plastic surgeons of the Midwest, and a conduit to bring the concerns of Midwestern plastic surgeons to the Council of Regional Societies.
I. The Bylaws Committee submits the following motion as suggested by the Board of Trustees:
Resident Section
That the Association approves the introduction of a new Resident Section of M.A.P.S. for any Resident Surgeon admitted to an acedemic program in the area covered by M.A.P.S.
This membership category is available for a reduced membership fee, currently suggested to be $25.00.
This section shall have one voting member in the Baord of Trustees.
II. Editorial changes of Bylaws text
That the Annual Meeting approves editorial changes to the Bylaws text for the purpose of making the wording gender neutral by the use of
the words "member" and 'he/she" et al.
III.Formation of Council of State Representatives
That the Annual Meeting approves the formation of a Council of State Representatives to assist the Board with recruitment in each state covered by M.A.P.S. and also to give feedback regarding immediate concern to the members.
The President of the local society, if any, would be the preferred representative if he/she is a M.A.P.S member.
The chairman of this Council will be appointed for a two year term by the President of M.A.P.S.
To the Annual Meeting from the Bylaws Committee
As requested by the Board of Trustees, the Bylaws Comittee presents the following additions and changes in their first reading for approval by the assembled members:
Regarding:
I Board of Trustees
A Every Past President shall uphold a three year term as a member of the Board of Trustees.
B The Resident Section shall have one representative elected for a one year term to the Baord of Trustees.
II Membership
A (under "Regular Membership") To maintain active membership status the attendance of one Annual Meeting every three years is required.
B Memebrship in the Resident Section of M.A.P.S is available for a reduced annual fee (currently $25.00) for nay Resident Surgeon who is admitted to an approved academic program in the area covered by M.A.P.S.
The application shall be directed to the Baird of Trustees and accompanied by a letter of recommendation from the Program Director.
III The Dowd Foundation
The Board of Trustees oversees the use of the Foundation's assets.
Applications for project funding shall be directed to the Board two months before the Annual Meeting. The Board shall review and recommend the applications for approval by the Annual Meeting.
IV Council of State Representatives
The M.A.P.S. Council of State representatives shall consist of one member of M.A.P.S. from each state within the Midwest Association, preferably the President of the local Society of Plastic Surgery if any such in existance.
This council is mandated to assist with recruitment of members for the Association and give feedback to the Board regarding issues of immediate concern to members. The chairman of this council shall be appointed for a two year term by the President of M.A.P.S.
